At the last CMC meeting, there was some discussion about whether it would be best to have CMC communications via email lists or online forums.
There was some talk of trying to create the best of both worlds (the public aspect of forums, and the “inbox” convenience of email lists). I just had a look through the support pages and AFAIK freeforums does not support email notification or digests.
I haven’t had a good look, but it appears that google groups might support both.

Thoughts?

I would be in favour of a forum personally-
It would be good for people to air their difficulties,ideas and such..

This is the first time I logged into the forum I think. Probably wouldn't much to be honest

There was some talk of trying to create the best of both worlds: the public aspect of forums, and the “inbox” convenience of email lists, etc. I haven’t had a good look, but it appears that google groups might support both online viewing and email notification.

I've thus opened up a cork music collective group at google:

The administrator, incidentally, is corkmusiccollective@gmail.com.


A couple of additional morsels to consider:

There isn't a significant amount of traffic on corkmusiccollective.freeforums.org -- it is, for all intents and purposes, of no use for guaranteeing communication with all/relevant members.
The current system of copying everyone on a message is prone to error (someone might not get copied in), and/or annoying to those not interested.
